Oregon Adult Care Home Conference at OMSI – A Summer Day Full of Connection, Conversations & Blue Flip-Flops!

On June 9th, I had the pleasure of attending the Oregon Adult Care Home Conference at OMSI, and I’m still feeling energized from all the incredible conversations, insightful questions, and meaningful connections made with so many amazing Adult Care Home providers.

The day was full of learning, networking, and sunshine—which made it the perfect occasion to bring out my cool summer swag. If you stopped by my table, you probably noticed the bright blue flip-flops I handed out—because let’s face it, running a care home is hard work, and you deserve something fun (and practical) for these warm summer months!

Alongside the flip-flops, I also gave away colorful plastic pocket folders—a small but powerful tool to help keep your tax documents organized. I know firsthand how overwhelming tax season can feel, especially for AFH providers juggling resident care, compliance, payroll, and more. These folders are just a little reminder: organizing now makes tax time much easier later.

But the best part of the day? Meeting so many of you in person.

Many providers shared concerns about:

• Late or confusing tax filings

• Medicaid waiver income

• Missing deductions

• Feeling unsure about their business structure or financial reports

Every conversation reaffirmed one thing: AFH owners are doing important work, but they deserve clearer answers and better support when it comes to their finances.
